Can you afford to rent your new home?

9th November 2021

Once we’ve carried out the checks and confirmed your application for your new home, you will need to be able to pay the fees required to set up the tenancy, covering the cost of references, credit checks and arranging your rental.

You will also need to pay a deposit before you move in and one month’s rent in advance. We want you to stay and enjoy your new home. This is why we carry out these checks to help us to make sure that we are providing you and your family with a home that you can afford and sustain.

Have you thought about how long you would like to stay in your home?

A tenancy is usually a minimum of 6 months. If you are not sure, you can ask for this to be extended but there are costs involved in extending your fixed term tenancy agreement.

Start pulling together useful documents that you may need to confirm your identity, immigration status, credit history and possibly employment status. When you get a moment it’s worth checking out the government’s How To Rent: The Checklist For Renting In England.
